No! One of the best parts about this recipe is that you can eat it straight away! It only takes minutes if not seconds to make. However there is the option to leave it the fridge for up to an hour for an even fluffier, thicker consistency.
Depending on the ingredients and ratio of coconut extract to water, you may be able to substitute the coconut cream for canned coconut milk. You want it to be as thick as possible so use one with a very high percentage of coconut kernel extract (see notes for more information)
Absolutely! Just adjust the amount according to how chocolate-y you like it. Cocoa powder may not give be as strong in flavour as the cacao powder so you may need to add a little bit more (but not much.)

3 Ingredient Vegan Chocolate Mousse
- 1 cup coconut cream, (from a can that has been refrigerated upside-down overnight) see notes
- 3 tbsp cacao powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- Using a blender, hand-held electric beaters or stick immersion blender, blend all ingredients together until combined.
- Enjoy as it is, or refrigerate for 2-3 hours until set into a thicker, fluffy mousse consistency.
- Adjust to taste: Add more cacao powder for a stronger, richer chocolate flavour. Add more maple syrup to sweeten.
